ORVET

New players

Your first steps in Orvet.

A short guide to how the game works, how you grow as an adventurer and what happens when things go wrong.

What is Orvet

Orvet is an online adventure game. You start in a small village at the edge of a forest, choose a class, and head out to hunt monsters, collect loot and grow stronger, on your own or together with friends. Your characters, items and progress are saved on the server, so you can pick up where you left off.

The world keeps growing with regular updates. Read the patch notes to see what is new, and use the wiki to look up monsters, items and classes. If you have played Tibia, the rules for death and PvP below will feel familiar.

Classes and subclasses

Every adventurer starts as a Warrior, a Ranger or a Mage. At level 10 you receive the quest Trial of the Ogre from your class trainer. When you complete it, you choose a permanent subclass.

The choice cannot be undone, so read about them first.

Warrior

Fights up close with swords, axes and clubs.

  • Templar

A sturdier shield role built around holding the line.

  • Berserker

Chooses between a two-handed sword, axe or club.

Ranger

Fights from a distance with bows and boomerangs.

  • Rogue

Fast and elusive, with a bow range of 5 tiles.

  • Marksman

A long-range specialist with a bow range of 7 tiles.

Mage

Casts spells and fights with wands.

  • Sorcerer

A destructive caster who strikes several enemies at once.

  • Priest

A healer who can also smite enemies.

  • Warlock

A curse caster supported by a summoned imp. Soul Debt delays part of incoming damage; it never removes it. The imp grows with its master and upgrades at level 40.

Death

Dying is part of the game, but it costs you. When you die you lose a share of your progress:

Experience
10 %
of your experience is lost.
Skills
5 %
of your earned skill training is lost.
  • Speak to Sister Elowen in the village chapel to make it your home and respawn point.
  • Everyone respawns with a new, empty backpack.
  • Dying to a player with a Red Skull halves your loss of experience and skills.
  • Dying while you have a Red Skull is worse: you lose double the normal amount of experience and skills.

PvP and PK

Fighting other players is optional until you turn PK on. Once PK is on, you are in combat and cannot enter protection zones such as the village.

Attacking another player gives you a PZ Lock of 60 seconds, and new aggression extends it. Killing a player gives a lock of 30 minutes. While you are locked you cannot use the Ancient Waystones to travel.

Dying removes your own PZ Lock and White Skull. Red Skulls and frags are tracked separately.

Frags and the Red Skull

Only unjustified kills count as frags. If you reach any one of the limits below, you get a Red Skull for 30 days.

PeriodFrags for Red Skull

30 days10

You can follow your own count in the PvP / Frags window in the game, which shows your skull, your PZ Lock and how many frags you have left before each limit.

Protection zone (PZ)
A safe area, such as the village, where you cannot be attacked.
PZ Lock
A timer that starts when you take part in PvP. While it runs you cannot enter protection zones.
White Skull
Shown on players who are currently in PvP.
Frag
An unjustified kill of another player. Too many frags give you a Red Skull.
Red Skull
Marks a player who kills others too often. Red Skull players are shown with a red skull on the world map.
